My life with two cats, Chewie and Juniper.

 School and work have really taken a toll on me, but more importantly Chewie and Juniper have been devoid of attention for a few weeks. One would think they would appreciate the fact that no one is harassing them. But alas, Chewie only wants your undying devotion when your not paying attention to him. Juniper doesn't know days from nights so she's blissfully unaware that no one has rubbed her belly in a few days. As summer school comes to an end my two furry friends and I will have a full week of pestering. Who will win the battle? I believe we all know the answer but I can have hope that it will be me.

 Guess what time it is? Now guess whose awake with me at this hour? If you said Chewie, your right. Juniper can't be bothered at this hour, she's getting her beauty sleep in. Most days of the week I get home around 1230 or 1am and no one is awake. Tonight its a balmy 61 degrees and Chewie decides someone ( and by someone I mean me) should be focusing all energy and attention toward him. Must be nice living in that fantasy land that which is Chewie's mind, a whole universe that revolves around him. Luckily for me this corner of the house is literally the coldest, so he trots off to sleep on someone else's feet. For tonight I have a slight reprieve from the bossman himself..

Today has been pretty uneventful so far...   Juniper has decided nap time should be in my school chair. After relocating to the dining room Chewie feels its necessary to nap on my laptop. I don't know about the rest of you but it seems to me that I may have to resort to more drastic measures if I want to get anything done today. I set up shop in my bed and hope Chewie and Juniper leave me alone for a little while. So far so good..

Mornings are usually a time of excitement, and today was no exception. Lead-footed Juniper decided that everything in the living room was her personal scratching post. She is on high alert presently, kicking at the carpet tower like a mad baby throwing a tantrum. Suddenly she stops as she see the birds congregating by the windowsill. Mind you, we live in a two-story house with a large window on the second floor that hangs out over the driveway. Miss Crazy-eyes comes running over to the perch, scoots by the sink and proceeds to army crawl the the left side of the window. Apparently that side has the best view of the birds. She watches them fly back and forth from our house to the neighbors. Honestly, I don't know if she thinks theres one bird or a hundred cause she's always rolling head in every direction. This goes on all morning or at least until someone tries to wash dishes, then she runs like hell on high water.. and the birds get to live another day.

 If you have ever had a cat before you know they disappear for hours on end, usually to sleep in some ridiculous place. This is the time I usually try to accomplish as much school work as humanly possible before I leave for work. I can always count on Juniper to be cuddled up on her current favorite spot at the end of the bed on a blanket she has claimed as hers and hers alone. Chewie has decided that midday naps aren't currently his thing. I have my desk set up in front of a large picture window with a beautiful emerald tufted chair I got for my birthday this year. I love this chair and the King is acutely aware that I love it. After lunch the house is very quite. As I sit and study, I feel something brush against my leg. As I look down, I see Chewie walking around my chair. I give him a little rub and go back to work. He continues is walking around me while being very vocal and demanding attention. I ignore him. Next thing I know he's got his claws dug into my chair! I snap m...

When we first got Chewie I had the bright idea to get an automatic feeder. It looks like something out of an amine cartoon. Its black and white, shaped like a cat with big eyes, and it has a recording function. I set it to feed him 3 times a day so he could be on a routine and this way he doesn't have to wait for us to get home to eat and scream at us for starving him. When Juniper joined the family we of course got her a feeder as well. Chewie wasn't too stoked on Juniper but he was excited for another opportunity to eat. Every morning the feeder drops breakfast at 6:15am and a message plays "Chew chew butt are you hungry?" I laugh every time I hear it. Everyone knows what time it is. Juniper always make a mad dash to the kitchen before Chewie in order to eat at least half the food in her bowl. Then the king arrives and she departs for awhile.
